Our Local Farm

Mr Organic has fostered its relationships with the farmers that grow their tomatoes for over 40 years. Although we currently don't actually farm ourselves we work closely with these farmers to make sure we have the sweetest tastiest tomatoes to cook up our delicious products. Before being picked at their ripest, these tomatoes bask outside all summer in the Italian sunshine collecting all the yummy goodness that make the tomato the original super fruit.

Our work and involvement with one farm makes us particularly proud. This special place is a social enterprise that is doing incredible work and we are honoured to form a tiny part of what they do. It is Bio Fattoria Solidale del Circeo about 50 metres from the gates of factory. This farm trains and employs disabled and mentally handicapped people to ensure that they too can lead a fulfilling life.

They are a fantastic group of people and are led by the farm's founder Marco (far right). Marco and his team hope their farm will form an example to others. An example that shows we can build a society that is open to all, a society where each and every one of us takes the lead and is responsible for their actions and their life...even those who find it difficult to keep pace with others. This farm is an example that we should never leave anyone behind.

We think this example should be followed by as many people as possible and have helped them convert the farm from non-organic to organic meaning that they now do as much good to the environment as they do for the people's lives involved. It also means that from this season's crop (Summer 2010) we are now also using their tomatoes in our delicious products!
